QR codes for weddings and parties

From the save-the-date to the shared photo album, here is where QR codes save you and your guests time, and how to make them look good on paper.

Before the wedding

  • Save-the-date: a code that adds the date and place to the guest’s calendar. Calendar QR code
  • RSVP: link to a Google Form or your wedding website, so you collect answers, menu choices and allergies in one place. Link QR code
  • Directions and parking: a code that opens the venue in maps; use coordinates for the exact car park entrance. Location QR code
  • Accommodation tips and gift list: links on the invitation insert instead of long text. Link QR code

On the day

  • Shared photo album on every table, with a line like “Share your photos with us!”. Link QR code
  • Guest Wi-Fi at the venue for uploading photos. Wi-Fi QR code
  • Programme: ceremony times, speeches and the menu, linked from the welcome sign. Link QR code
  • Table cards: make every guest’s place card with their name under the code, all at once from your guest list with the bulk generator.
  • Song requests to the DJ by text message. SMS QR code

After the wedding

Making them look good on paper

  • Download as SVG and place it in your invitation design (Canva, Word, Illustrator). It stays sharp at any size.
  • Use a dark colour from your palette for the code and keep the background light.
  • Keep a white margin around the code; don’t let decorations touch it.
  • Order one printed proof and scan it with a couple of phones before printing them all.

Frequently asked questions

Will older guests manage with QR codes?

Most phones read QR codes with the normal camera. Still, print the essential details (date, time, address) in plain text too, and use the code for the extras.

How big should a QR code be on an invitation?

At least 2 × 2 cm. If the code holds a lot of text (for example a calendar event with long details), make it bigger or link to a page instead.

Can the QR code match our wedding colours?

Yes. Choose a dark code colour that matches your design (dark green, navy, burgundy) on a light background. Avoid light or pastel codes, which many phones can’t read. Always test-print.

How do guests share their photos?

Create a shared album (Google Photos, iCloud shared album or a wedding photo app), copy its invite link and make a QR code of it for the tables.
