QR code reader: scan from an image or screenshot

Drop, choose or paste (Ctrl+V) an image with a QR code. You see what is inside, and links are shown before you open them.

Drop images here or choose files …or paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V (⌘+V on Mac). Several images at once are fine.

When a QR code reader on the web is handy

  • The code is on your own screen: in an email, a PDF or a web page, where you can’t point your phone at it.
  • You received a photo or screenshot of a code and want to know what it contains.
  • You want to check a code before trusting it: see where a link really goes, or read a Wi-Fi password from a code.
  • You work on a computer without a phone at hand.

How to use it

  1. Take a screenshot (Windows: Win+Shift+S, Mac: ⌘+Shift+4) or save the image.
  2. Paste it here with Ctrl+V, or drop the file on the box above.
  3. Read the result. For links, check the domain before you press “Open link”.

Frequently asked questions

Is the image uploaded anywhere?

No. The image is read by your browser on your own device and is never sent to us or anyone else, so it is safe to use with screenshots that contain private information.

Why is no QR code found?

Try a sharper or closer picture where the whole code, including its white border, is visible. Very small, blurry, strongly angled or heavily styled codes are harder to read. Cropping the image around the code often helps.

Can it read barcodes too?

No, this reader is for QR codes only. Product barcodes can be read with a phone’s camera app or Google Lens.

Does it open links automatically?

No. You see the full address and its domain first, and decide yourself whether to open it. That protects you from fake codes.
